Abstract: The main objective of this research paper is to acquire an efficient understanding of meaning and significance of regional development. Within rural communities, there are number of factors, which need to be developed in order to lead to progression of rural individuals and overall communities. These are, system of education, employment opportunities, medical and health care facilities, infrastructure, amenities and various types of facilities. The individuals in leadership positions are required to formulate different types of programs, which are necessary in promoting enhancement of all these factors. One needs to acquire an efficient understanding of the inconsistencies and bring about improvements. The generation of awareness in terms of different factors and management of financial, technical, human, material and information resources are regarded to be of utmost significance. The individuals, belonging to rural communities are dependent on natural environmental conditions. Hence, they need to ensure, they make use of resources in an effective manner and prevent wastage. Putting emphasis on regional development is facilitating in leading to up-gradation of rural individuals and communities. As a consequence, individuals will have access to all the facilities and will contribute efficiently in bringing about improvements in one’s overall quality of lives. Therefore, it is well-understood, regional development of rural communities is vital in leading to up-gradation. The main concepts that are taken into account in this research paper are, understanding the meaning and significance of regional development and measures to be implemented in promoting regional development.
